Unconscious scuba diver airlifted to hospital

BARDSEY ISLAND, UK (8 Sep 2007) -- An unconscious scuba diver who was pulled from the water off Bardsey Island was airlifted to Bangor Hospital.

The pleasure boat operator who found the diver called Holyhead Coastguard at about 3:30pm to report the accident and ask for help.

A rescue helicopter was scrambled from RAF Valley and Aberdaron Coastguard sent a lifeboat to the scene of the accident.

Officials at Holyhead Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre said the diver regained consciousness on the way to Bangor Hospital.
