WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (16 Sep 2007) -- An experienced scuba diver suffering from decompression sickness was airlifted to hospital.

Authorities declined to release the name of the 51-year-old man who was injured while diving with several friends 14 miles northeast of Fort Pierce Inlet.

A Coast Guard helicopter took the man to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment in a hyperbaric chamber.

Coast Guard officials said the man is in good condition and expected to make a full recovery.
