DORSET, UK (20 Sep 2007) -- Authorities have confirmed that a body found near a popular wreck diving site is a BSAC diver who went missing two years ago.

Mark Steel, 22, of Northhamptonshire, disappeared while scuba diving at the wreck of the Kyarra on August 22, 2005.

According to witnesses, Steel briefly surfaced after exploring the wreck but suddenly disappeared before the dive boat could reach him.

Last month on August 8, police search and rescue divers recovered a body while searching for two other divers who went missing while exploring the same wreck.

The body was taken to Bournemouth where the Poole and East Dorset coroner's office confirmed the victim's identity.

Steel was a member of the Northampton Sub-Aqua Club. He had been scuba diving for two years and had logged 80 dives.

The 6,953 ton Kyarra was sunk by a German torpedo in 1918 killing all six crew on board.
