TORONTO, Canada (21 Sep 2007) -- Niagara Regional Police have now recovered a second body from the water intake system near the Sir Adam Beck hydro generating station above Niagara Falls. The bodies found in the water have been positively identified as the two Toronto divers who went missing last Sunday, police said. Police have notified next of kin but will not be releasing the divers' names, they said. Police divers have been searching for the two recreational divers for most of this week. One body was discovered early Friday morning near the intake valve. The other diver's body was discovered when the water level was lowered to aid in the recovery of the first body. "Upon lowering the water flow, it became apparent the body of a second person, also wearing a scuba diving suit, was present," said a statement on the police web site. The Toronto men disappeared last Sunday near the mouth of the Welland River where it enters the Niagara River. |
