Tourist dies scuba diving in Philippines

CEBU, Philippines (8 Oct 2007) -- A tourist died after a scuba diving accident in the Philippines.

Atsuo Kimura, 47, of Ota-ku, Tokyo, died while scuba diving off Mactan Island in Cebu with three other divers including a Filipino dive guide.

Police in Cebu told CDNN the victim continued diving after the other three divers ascended.

When he failed to resurface, authorities launched a search and found his body at a depth of 90 meters.

The recommended maximum depth for recreational diving is 40 - 45 meters.
