PANGUITCH LAKE, Utah (31 Oct 2007) — An experienced New York diver died while working to deepen a channel for the Panguitch Lake Resort in south central Utah.

Tim Loveria, 46, of Conklin, N.Y., was removing a temporary dam at about 1pm when something went wrong.

Other divers who were working on the project found Loveria unconscious at a depth of about 5.5 meters (18 feet).

The victim was rushed to Garfield County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 2pm.

Police are investigating the accident and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.

Loveria was employed by Portadam, a New Jersey-based company that was contracted by the Panguitch Lake Resort to deepen a channel in the lake.
