©SWANAGE BAY, UK (3 Nov 2007) — Three scuba divers suffering decompression sickness were airlifted to hospital.

A coastguard helicopter was scrambled at about 11:30am after authorities received a call for help from the dive boat crew.

The helicopter airlifted the injured divers, one of whom was under 18, to Poole hospital for hyperbaric medical treatment.

Hospital officials said that all three divers were treated in a decompression chamber although only two had symptoms of the bends.

Coastguard rescuers said the divers missed their safety stop when they ascended.

The accident is under investigation.
