MATAMANOA, Fiji (1 Dec 2007) — A young bride died on her honeymoon after she was hit by a boat while diving at Matamanoa Island Resort. Just six days after they were married, Rebecca Stockwell, 27, nee Crawley, and her husband, Hayden Stockwell, were diving off the resort on Friday morning at about 10:30am when tragedy struck. Police told CDNN that the propeller of a boat driven by an employee of the resort hit Stockwell in the head. She was airlifted to a hospital in Lautoka where she was pronounced dead. The resort employee who was driving the boat told police he did not see the couple. Friends and family in Blenheim described Rebecca as a wonderful, caring person who was full of joy. "What we had was so short, but nothing or nobody has ever in my life made me as happy as you have," said Hayden. "Your infectious laugh and smile and your glowing eyes will be in my heart forever." |
