Another scuba diver dies in Bay of Plenty

CAPE RUNAWAY, New Zealand (30 Dec 2007) — Another scuba diver has died in the Bay of Plenty.

Police told CDNN the victim was a 49-year-old male who resides in Opotiki but declined to identify the man pending notification of kin.

The fatal scuba diving accident occured at Cape Runaway in the eastern Bay of Plenty where the victim had been diving with family and friends.

Relatives found the man floating unconscious at the surface and pulled him to shore.

Despite attempts to resuscitate the victim, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
