LONDON, UK (17 Jan 2008) — A Royal Navy helicopter and a Coastguard lifeboat were deployed to search for missing swimmers in response to a call from an elderly woman who believed that scenes in the movie 'Open Water' were real.

Coastguard officials later called off the search after they realized the caller was confusing the movie she was watching with real life.

"She was watching a programme on TV and she phoned 999 (the emergency number in Britain) and asked for the coastguard," a local coastguard spokesman told reporters.

"We could hear the screams in the background. She just thought it was a real incident happening in front of her."

"You can't charge her with hoax calls," he added. "You just feel sorry for her."
