STRADBROKE ISLAND, Australia (28 Feb 2008) — A search is underway for three divers after their boat drifted away while they were diving off Stradbroke Island.

Authorities said the search is focused on an area off Point Lookout where the divers may be trapped in heavy seas.

Police received an emergency call from two passengers who remained on the boat while three others went diving.

Apparently the passengers were not able to operate the vessel.

An EMQ rescue helicopter was scrambled to search for the boat and the divers.

Police boats are also involved in the search.
