WELLINGTON, New Zealand (2 Apr 2008)An autopsy has been scheduled as part of the police investigation of a scuba diving accident that killed a man in Wellington Harbour yesterday.

Police declined to release the name of the victim pending notification of kin.

The man was diving near Queens Wharf in order to inspect the hull of a commercial charter vessel he had leased.

Maritime police Senior Sergeant John Bryant told reporters authorities still do not know what caused the fatal scuba diving accident.

"I guess there's the inherent risk with any diving operation, but we will have to wait and see what the pathologist says," Bryant said.
