Scuba diver missing at Scapa Flow

SCAPA FLOW, Orkney Islands, Scotland (5 Apr 2008)Coastguard rescue teams are searching for a diver who went missing while exploring the Markgraf war wreck off the MV Karin dive boat.

The crew of the MV Karin called for help at about 10:50am when one of their customers failed to resurface.

Shetland Coastguard scrambled a helicopter and at least two Coastguard lifeboat rescue teams joined the search in force 6 to 7 winds and high waves.

According to unconfirmed reports, the missing 38-year-old male diver was exploring the wreck with a dive buddy when he encountered problems.

The buddy diver surfaced but the missing diver did not.
