SINT-PHILIPSLAND, Netherlands (7 Apr 2008)Dutch authorities resumed the search for a diver who disappeared yesterday during a dive at Sint-Philipsland in the southwest of the Netherlands.

The diver, a 30-year-old male from Belgium, was scuba diving with two friends near the former ferry harbour at Anna-Jacobapolder when he disappeared at a depth of about 35 meters.

The buddy divers surfaced and called police for help.

A search was launched but had to be suspended on about 4pm due to strong currents that threatened the safety of rescue divers.

The search resumed this morning with the assistance of the Royal Netherlands Navy.
