Speedboat kills two tourists scuba diving in Red Sea

SHARM el-SHEIKH, Egypt (12 Apr 2008) — A speedboat ran over and killed two tourists from Poland while they were scuba diving in the Red Sea near Sharm el-Sheikh.

Jona Kosic, 45, a man, and Wizo Kosic, 43, a woman, died after they were hit by a high-speed boat.

Ibrahim Hassan Ali, an official at Sharm el-Sheikh Hospital, confirmed that the bodies of the scuba diving accident victims were brought to the hospital and later transferred to the Polish embassy in Cairo for repatriation.

Authorities declined to release additiional details about the accident pending completion of an investigation.

In December 2000, renowned pop singer Kirsty MacColl died while scuba diving in Cozumel after she was run over by a speedboat.
