LIVERPOOL, UK (16 May 2008) — An open verdict has been recorded in the death of a man who died while scuba diving with a rebreather. Michael Bromsgrove, 41, drowned in 2006 while diving off Bradda head. Witnesses said the dive profile was not challenging and that Bromsgrove was an experienced diver. Coroner of Inquests Michael Moyle heard evidence from experts as to whether Bromsgrove's equpment had failed. Moyle said there was insufficient evidence that the equipment was fundamentally flawed or that Bromsgrove had forgotten to turn on his rebreather unit. The unit was off when divers recovered the victim's body. Moyle also said there was no evidence of any problems with the units batteries. Accordingly, Moyle stated that it was not clear exactly what happened and recorded an open verdict. © CDNN - CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORK |
