Tourist paralyzed after scuba diving accident in Palau

PALAU (19 May 2008) — A tourist who was severely injured while scuba diving in Palau was airlifted to Guam.

The injured diver, a 36-year-old woman from California, suffered brain trauma and was paralyzed.

Witnesses said the woman could not move her arms or legs.

The patient was taken to the Harmon Doctor's Clinic where she is receiving hyperbaric medical treatment.
