NEWQUAY, UK (23 May 2008) — A man died after a scuba diving accident off Newquay in Cornwall.

Authorities declined to identify the victim, a 33-year-old male from London.

Witnesses said the man encountered problems at depth and was pulled to the surface by other divers.

The dive boat crew called for help and authorities launched a lifeboat from Newquay and a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose.

The helicopter airlifted the victim to Treliske Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
