Scuba diving accident kills Alderney wreck diver

CHANNEL ISLANDS (3 June 2008) — A man died while scuba diving at the site of the Elizabethan wreck off the coast of Alderney.

Authorities declined to identify the scuba diving accident victim who died while working at the site.

Witnesses said that soon after the victim resurfaced from the wreck, he developed symptoms of decompression sickness.

Despite attempts to save the diver, he died.

Authorities in the Channel Islands said all dives at the site have been suspended pending the results of an autopsy on scuba diving accident victim.
