ABERDEEN, Scotland (13 June 2008) — Authorities have released the identity of the victim of a fatal scuba diving accident CDNN reported earlier this month. The fatally injured diver was former BSAC vice chairman Ken Farrow. Farrow disappeared on June 2 while scuba diving with other divers off Orkney. After the other divers in Farrow's group called authorities to report a missing diver emergency, the coastguard launched a search and found the victim on the shoreline of the isle of Westray. Farrow was rushed to hospital in KIrkwall where he died soon after he was admitted. Farrow was a scientist and engineer who served as BSAC vice chairman and regional coach for Nother Scotland. Friends and colleagues paid tribute to Farrow at his funeral, which was held at Aberdeen crematorium on 12 June. "Ken was a personal mentor of mine and was present through my learning as an instructor," said BSAC national diving officer Sean Gribben. "He will never be forgotten. Our thoughts must be with his wife Alison at this difficult time." |
