Tango diver injured off Dorset coast

WEYMOUTH, UK (16 June 2008) — A man was airlifted to hospital after a scuba diving accident off the Dorset coast.

Authorities have not identified the victim who was diving off the Tango dive boat near Lulworth Cove when he was injured.

Witnesses said the diver ascended to rapidly from a depth of 28 meters (92 feet).

Marine rescue officials scrambled the Portland Coastguard helicopter, which transported the injured diver to Poole Hospital where he was transferred by ambulance to a decompression chamber.

Hospital officials said the diver is in stable condition.
