LAKE RAWLINGS, Virginia (29 June 2008) — A woman drowned while scuba diving at Lake Rawlings scuba park in Virginia.
Authorities told CDNN Sharon Holmes, a 41-year-old Baltimore resident, was scuba diving with her fiancee at about 2:00pm last Friday when she panicked.
Apparently unable to assist Holmes, her fiancee ascended and screamed for help.
Divers with the Henrico County dive team who were training at Lake Rawlings on Friday brought Holmes to shore and called for help as they started CPR.
Paramedics responded and rushed Holmes to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office, they confiscated all of the victim's scuba diving equipment as part of their investigation into what caused the diver death.
Authorities said the scuba park would be closed for several days.
