STORNOWAY, Scotland (3 July 2008) — A scuba diver died yesterday despite frantic attempts to resuscitate him. The alarm was raised just after midday when Stornoway Coastguard received an urgent call for medical assistance after the man complained of feeling unwell shortly after resurfacing from a dive in Loch Pooltiel, off the north coast of Skye. He was assisted on board the dive boat but collapsed and lost consciousness. The helicopter airlifted the man and the aircraft's crew continued resuscitation on the way to the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway. However, the scuba diver was pronounced dead shortly arriving at the hospital. |
