HONOLULU, Hawaii (12 July 2008) — Rescue crews resumed searching for a man who disappeared while diving with friends off Waikiki.

Authorities declined to identify the diver, a local male resident who was reported missing at 3:40pm yesterday.

Fire department Capt. Frank Johnson said the search is focused on an area about two miles offshore from the Hale Koa Hotel.

Several groups are assisting in the search for the missing diver including city Ocean Safety personnel, fire-rescue divers, police, the Coast Guard and Atlantis Submarines.

At least two helicopters and several boats have been deployed to search for the diver, who was diving off a private boat with four friends.
