CAPE ANN, Massachusetts (3 Aug 2008) — A scuba diving accident killed a customer of MASS Diving Inc of Natick, Massachusetts. The owner and employees of MASS Diving refused to reveal the identity of the scuba diving accident victim or provide details about the cause of the diver death. Although few details about the fatal scuba diving accident have been made public, sources told CDNN the victim was a 48-year-old male who paid MASS Diving Inc for a scuba diving trip to Folly Cove. At the diving site, a group of about a dozen divers descended to a depth of about three meters. As the group moved offshore, the victim was lagging behind and the other divers realized he was in trouble. "They were on their way out, they usually keep an eye on each other, and they looked back and saw he was lagging behind," said Lieutenant Joseph Aiello of the Gloucester Police Department. "When they went to see what was going on, he was not responsive." The group immediately aborted the dive and brought the victim back to shore where they called for help at 10:04am and started CPR. Rescuers tried but failed to shock the victim's heart back to live with a defibrillator. | | Ronald Stefens was one of five divers who died during Florida's annual 2-day lobster hunt, which celebrates the lethal combination of beer, obesity, greed and scuba diving. The scuba diving accident victim was taken to Gilbert Hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 11:00am. Police said an autopsy has been scheduled and the accident is under investigation. |
