SONOMA, California (11 Aug 2008) — The Sonoma County Coroner's Office identified the man who drowned while diving in Stillwater Cove off California's Sonoma Coast.

Craig Alan Belluomini, 54, of San Bruno, California died last Saturday while diving in Stillwater Cove.

Witnesses told authorities they saw Belluomini struggling after he apparently became entangled in kelp.

Other divers freed him and brought him to shore where they started CPR.

Rescuers responding to a call for help arrived and took over CPR but failed to revive Belluomini who was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:40pm.

The diving fatality was the fifth this year involving abalone divers hunting off California's North Coast.
