XLENDI, Malta (30 Sep 2008) — Authorities have called off the search for a scuba instructor who disappeared while diving in Malta.

Alain Bollini, 44, went missing on September 25 while scuba diving near Xlendi.

Bollini's wife, Valerie, 36, told reporters she and her Alain moved to Gozo from France last March because of her husband's passion for scuba diving.

Valerie gave birth to a baby girl four months ago and the couple have six other children, three each from previous marriages.

Although authorities have ended the missing diver search, Valerie said she still cannot fully accept that her husband is gone.

"My head tells me he's dead, but my heart tells me not to give up," she said.
