NISSHI BEACH, Cyprus (4 Nov 2008) — A tourist is dead after a scuba diving accident off Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa.

Authorities told CDNN that Vojtech Novajovsky, 43, of Slovakia, was on holiday with his family and decided to go scuba diving with his stepdaughter and a British dive instructor.

At a relatively shallow depth of about three meters, Novajovsky suddenly signaled to the other divers that he wanted to resurface.

Soon after he resurfaced, he apparently lost consciousness and was pulled to the beach where bystanders started CPR and called for help.

An ambulance rushed the scuba diving accident victim to hospital but he never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at the medical facility.
