by LUTHER MONROE @ CDNN - CYBER DIVER News Network

FREEMANTLE, Australia (23 Feb 2009) — A diver was airlifted to hospital after  a scuba diving accident at Rottnest Island.

Authorities have not yet identified the scuba diving accident victim but said Fremantle Water Police and Fremantle Rescue airlifted a male diver to Fremantle Hospital's hyperbaric unit yesterday afternoon.

The man was pulled from the water unconscious after a 12-meter dive in Geordie Bay.

Rescue officials said the victim apparently swallowed water during an out-of-air emergency.
