CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico (23 Feb 2009) — An American tourist who was scuba diving off the Solmar V live-aboard dive boat is missing and feared dead in Mexico.

The unidentified 54-year-old woman was scuba diving with her husband and another diver at Roca Partida in the Sorocco Islands when the accident occurred.

Witnesses said the victim did not resurface from a dive that started at about 8:00 am.

The U.S. Coast Guard is assisting the Mexican Navy in the air and sea search for the missing scuba diver.

The Solmar V liveaboard dive boat is based in Cabo San Lucas, which is located about 300 miles northeast of the Sorocco Islands.

Roca Partida is a popular destination for scuba diving and fishing.
