Conception dive boat customer airlifted to hospital

LOS ANGELES, California (10 Mar 2009) — A U.S. Coast Guard rescue helicopter airlifted a woman to hospital after she lost consciousness while scuba diving near San Miguel Island.
Authorities have not yet identified the 53-year-old victim who was diving off the Conception dive boat.
Witnesses said the woman ran out of air at depth on her second dive and was ascending to the surface while sharing her buddy's air supply when she lost consciousness.
At the surface, the victim regained consciousness after the crew of the Conception pulled her aboard and administered oxygen.
The crew called for help at about 1:50 pm and the U.S. Coast Guard scrambled a rescue helicopter from Air Station Los Angeles.
The helicopter crew hoisted the woman up from the dive boat and took her to medical the Hyperbaric Chamber located at Isthmus on Catalina Island.
Authorities have not yet released information on the victim's condition.
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 56-year-old scuba diving accident victim.
