Paradive HK Scuba Diving Resort accident kills two Cebu tourists

by LUTHER MONROE @ CDNN - CYBER DIVER News Network

CEBU, Philippines (10 Mar 2009) — Two tourists drowned while scuba diving in Cebu on the last dive of their holiday in the Philippines.

Pang Chi-lung, 44, and Joanna Cheung-wai, 28, were diving with Paradive HK Scuba Diving Resort near Olango Island when they died.

Lapu-Lapu police chief superintendent Mariano Natuel said the scuba diving accident victims failed to surface after a planned 40-minute dive and were later found unconscious at depth by their instructor, Cheung Hung-kam.

"After 40 minutes of diving, the victims failed to show up, prompting the dive instructor to dive back into the seawater and found the two victims already unconscious," said Natuel.

They were taken to Mactan Doctor's Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Officials said the fatal accident is under investigation and autopsies will be performed.
