ABERDEEN, Scotland (3 Apr 2009) — A dive boat crew died after an accident aboard the Wellservicer dive boat.

Authorities told CDNN the 44-year-old victim was adjusting the ballast system of a diving bell when the accident happened at about 5:45 pm on Wednesday.

The victim suffered severe head injuries and died aboard the vessel before he was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The Wellservicer dive support vessel, operated by Technip, was undergoing sea trials about four miles from Aberdeen Harbour when the crew was fatally injured.
