Dive boat accident victim identified

ABERDEEN, Scotland (14 Apr 2009) — The man killed in an accident aboard the Wellservicer dive boat has been identified.

David Stephenson, 44, died at about 5:45 pm on Wednesday, April 1, while adjusting the ballast system of a diving bell.

Stephenson suffered severe head injuries and died before he was airlifted off the Wellservicer.

The Wellservicer dive support vessel, operated by Technip, was undergoing sea trials about four miles from Aberdeen Harbour when Stephenson was fatally injured.

 

Dive boat accident victim identified
A rescue helicopter airlifted the victim to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after he was pronounced dead onboard the Wellservicer diving vessel.
