Boat may have run over missing Hawaii tourist diver

by LUTHER MONROE @ CDNN - CYBER DIVER News Network

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (15 Apr 2009) — Officials have not ruled out a shark attack, however, Big Island police said evidence shows a boat may have hit a missing tourist diver.

Police told CDNN that a boat was seen in the area where Paulo Dominici, 49, disappeared on Saturday morning while diving with a friend off the Kona Makai Condominiums on Alii Drive.

Big Island fire-rescue crews have found evidence, includijng pieces of Dominici's wetsuit, that indicate he may have been run over by a boat or possibly attacked by a shark.

Police on the Big Island are asking anyone who may have information related to the case to call Detective Sharlotte Bird at 326-4646, extension 228, or the Hawaii Police Department's non-emergency line at 935-3311.
