HONOLULU, Hawaii (27 Apr 2009) — A woman on holiday in Hawaii apparently drowned while diving off the island of Oahu.
Authorities told CDNN that Christine Christensen, 61, of Lakeville, Minnesota died while diving off the Ko Olina resort.
Bystanders who noticed that Christensen was not moving called for help and fire-rescue paramedics responded at about 12:23 pm.
According to Honolulu Fire Capt. Earle Kealoha, security staff at the resort had already pulled Christensen ashore and were trying to revive the victim with CPR when fire-rescue paramedics arrived at the scene of the diving accident.
Paramedics rushed the woman to Hawaii Medical Center but she never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at the medical facility.
A post-mortem exam was performed to determine the cause of death.
