CLEARWATER, Florida (2 May 2009) — The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a 29-year-old man who disappeared while scuba diving off Lori's Other Half, a 24-ft pleasure boat.
Coast Guard officials told CDNN the scuba diving accident victim, whose name has not yet been released, vanished about 21 miles west of John's Pass in Clearwater at about 1:00 pm.
Assisting in the search for the missing scuba diver are an HH 60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Station Clearwater, a 47-ft patrol boat from Station Sand Key, the St. Petersburg-based cutter Alligator and auxiliary aircraft.
Weather conditions are good with one to two foot seas and five to ten knot winds.
Friends of the missing man said he is an experienced scuba diver.
