CLEARWATER, Florida (3 May 2009) — Clearwater Fire and Rescue divers recovered the body of a scuba diver who disappeared on Saturday.
Police released the name of the scuba diving accident victim as Michael McQuillen, 29, of Lakeland.
McQuillen went missing while scuba diving with friends off a pleasure boat called Lori's Other Half at a buoy with GPS coordinates of N 27 46.141 and W 083 12.765.
Fire-Rescue divers found McQuillen's body about 20 miles offshore at a depth of about 24 meters (80 feet) west of John's Pass.
Assisting in the search for the missing scuba diver are an HH 60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Station Clearwater, a 47-ft patrol boat from Station Sand Key, the St. Petersburg-based cutter Alligator and auxiliary aircraft.
