GUAM (6 May 2009) — A woman died after encountering problems while scuba diving off Apra Harbor in Guam.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the scuba diving accident victim but told CDNN she lost consciousness at depth and was assisted to the surface by her buddy.
Coast Guard Station Apra Harbor received a call for help just before 10:00 am and a 25-ft patrol boat rushed to the scene of the accident.
The Coast Guard took the woman to Sumay Cove where she was transferred to an ambulance and taken to Naval Hospital.
Hospital officials said the woman never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at Naval Hospital.
