ISLE OF MULL, Scotland (6 May 2009) — Gaelic Rose dive boat customer, James Hyslop, who was airlifted to hospital after a scuba diving accident in the Sound of Mull, has died. Hyslop, 67, from Leeds, was transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, but did not recover from severe injuries he suffered while scuba diving off the Isle of Mull. Hyslop was one of three scuba divers who died in the Sound of Mull last week. Henry Downs, 38, died while exploring the Rondo shipwreck, a 50-meter deep dive site that BSAC dive leader, John Thomas, described as "no more dangerous than crossing a road." An unidentified 62-year-old male who was scuba diving off the Equinox dive boat disappeared and is presumed dead after another scuba diving accident in the Sound of Mull. The spate of scuba diving accident prompted the Coastguard to issue an official warning that advised scuba divers in the UK to be more cautious. |
