Student diver dead, Diveevolution scuba instructor missing off Pattaya

PATTAYA, Thailand (13 May 2009) — One man is dead and another is missing after a scuba diving accident at HardDeep off the coast of Pattaya.
Authorities told CDNN that Thai Navy divers recovered the body of Pote Sawangwongseri, 25, who was participating in a scuba diving course with Diveevolution, a Pattaya-based dive shop.
Wiwat Tiraronkornkul, 35, a scuba diving instructor who worked for Diveevolution, is still missing.
Witnesses said Diveevolution's dive boat crew searched for the missing divers but found no trace of them.
HardDeep is notorious for strong, unpredictable and dangerous currents that can be deadly.
CDNN sources in Thailand said at least five scuba divers have died at HardDeep.
