MARATHON, Florida (4 June 2009) — A man died while snorkel diving with friends in the Florida Keys. Authorities told CDNN the diving accident victim was William Husic Jr, 61, a chemical engineer who resides in Brighton. At about 2:00 pm, two boaters found Husic floating unconscious off Bahia Honda State Park and called 911 for help but it was too late. The Coast Guard brought the victim's body to the Coast Guard Station in Marathon. Family and friends said Husic was a "very energetic and active" man who loved the outdoors almost as much as he loved playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; sons, Toby and Jeremy; and grandchildren, Abby 9, Rory, 6, and Jacob, 4. The accident is under investigation and an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. |
