WHITSAND BAY, UK — A member of a BSAC scuba diving club died after he encountered problems and ascended too rapidly.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim but told CDNN he was exploring the James Eagan Layne wreck at Whitsand Bay when he suffered fatal injuries.
Police said other members of the Somerset BSAC scuba diving club, which organized the dive trip, tried to provide emergency medical assistance after the victim was pulled aboard their chartered dive boat.
The dive boat crew called for help and the Coastguard launched a lifeboat from Plymouth.
The lifeboat took the man to shore where he was transferred to an ambulance and rushed to Derriford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
