IRVING, Texas — A man died while diving for golf balls in a pond at the Las Colinas Country Club golf course. Authorities told CDNN the diving accident victim was Christopher Logan, 27, of Lewisville, Texas. Irving Police said employees at the club realized something was wrong when Logan failed to return before 8:00 pm when the facility closed. They found the victim's breathing apparatus floating at the surface of a water trap near the eighteenth green. A pump that supplies air to the diver was not functioning. Fire-rescue divers responded to a call for help and found Logan at the bottom of the pond. Officials representing the Dallas County medical examiner's office said Logan drowned after breathing air contaminated with carbon monoxide. The U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating Logan's death as an industrial accident. Logan is survived by a three-year-old son and wife, Jennifer, who said he started working part-time as a golf ball diver after his hours were reduced by his primary employer. "He was just trying to do what he had to do to provide for his family," she told reporters. |
