EXMOUTH, UK — The coastguard rescued a diver who was swept out to sea by a rip-tide.
Authorities have not yet identified the 36-year-old male but told CDNN he was snorkel diving off the mouth of the River Otter when he was overpowered by a strong offshore current.
After witnesses called for help, a coastguard rescue helicopter was scrambled and the crew hoisted the victim to safety.
Coastguard officials said the Sidmouth lifeboat was also launched but did not assist in the rescue.
The diver was taken to Lime Kiln car park where paramedics were standing by.
The man was in good condition and was not taken to hospital.
