DES MOINES, Washington — A man died while scuba diving off Redondo Beach.

According to the King County Medical Examiner's Office, Karl Anquoe, 57, of Tukwila, died of an air embolism.

Other divers said the victim encountered problems at a depth of about 24.5 meters (80 feet).

The victim's buddy and another diver brought him to the surface and pulled him to shore where they started CPR.

Police and paramedics responded to a call for help at about 4:30 pm, but it was too late and the diver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scuba diving accident is under investigation and an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
