Boat hits, severely injures diver off Malta

MELLIEHA, Malta — A diver is in hospital after he was hit by a boat.

Authorities have not yet identified the 26-year-old a Żurrieq resident but told CDNN he was diving off l-Ahrax in Mellieha at about noon when an unknown boat ran over him severely injuring his foot.

Bleeding profusely, the diver called for help and a boater notified authorities of a diving accident.

The Armed Forces of Malta scrambled a Alouette helicopter and rushed the victim to Mater Dei Hospital where he was listed in fair condition.

Police are investigating the hit-and-run boat accident.weeks, the other having taken place in Gozo.
