Injured scuba diver airlifted to Duke Medical Center

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, North Carolina — A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter rescued a woman who was injured while scuba diving.

Authorities told CDNN the scuba diving accident victim fell unconscious after a dive off a commercial dive charter boat.

The boat crew called for help at about 11:00 am and a helicopter was scrambled from Coast Guard Station Wrightsville Beach.

Petty Officer Greg France said the helicopter transported the victim to Duke Medical Center.

Hospital officials have not yet released information about the woman's condition.
