PINELLAS COUNTY, Florida — The Coast Guard is searching for a diver who disappeared in the Gulf off the west coast of Florida. Search officials told CDNN the missing diver is Darren Rordan, 31, who was spearfishing with three friends off the 22-ft Malikot. Rordan's friends called for help after he failed to return to the boat as planned at 10:45 am. The group started their dive trip from Fort Desoto Park in Pinellas County. An HH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, a 41-foot utility boat from Station Cortez, and the St. Petersburg-based Coast Guard cutter Alligator, an 87-foot patrol boat, are assisting in the search for the missing diver. Coast Guard Petty Officer Sondra-Kay Kneen said no trace of Rordan has been found and the search would likely continue through the night.patrol boat to aid in the search.
