MANATEE COUNTY, Florida — The body of a diver who disappeared while scuba diving yesterday off the west coast of Florida has been found. According to a CDNN source in Florida, other divers found the scuba diving accident victim, Darren Rordan, 31, at about 11:00 am this morning. Yesterday, divers who were diving off a dive charter boat operated by Blue Water Adventures found Rordan's partially inflated BC, empty tank and spear gun. The captain of the dive charter boat brought the equipment back to shore and turned it over to authorities at The Scuba Shack in Cortez, Florida. Today the U.S. Coast Guard called off the search, which covered a 600-square-mile area. A rescue helicopter, utility and patrol boats and the St. Petersburg-based Coast Guard Cutter Alligator all assisted in the missing diver search Rordan was spearfishing with three friends off the 22-ft Malikot when he disappeared. Police are investigating the accident including unconfirmed and conflicting reports the victim may have entered a wreck in the area. |
